Description
Melin-y-grug is a timber-framed building with limewashed infill panels and a slate roof. It has one storey and an attic, with the front raised to two storeys. The structure features two bays and an outshut under the extension of the roof at the rear. The square framing consists of four panels high, with tension braces at the ends and straight angle braces. There is a panelled door and 20th-century timber windows that may fit the original openings. A brick arch forms a window in the buttery.
The central entrance leads through a 20th-century internal lobby to the main living room. The rear outshut contains the service rooms. In the living room, there are two longitudinal chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops. The fire lintel of the brick gable stack has been raised and includes an oven and a closet on the side. A timber-framed wall, which has one surviving wattle and daub panel, separates the living room from two inner rooms, which now have their dividing wall removed. A modern stair is present.
