Description
Fron-y-Fele is a timber box-framed building with brick noggings and a random slate roof, dating from the 18th century. It is one storey high with an attic and features a Type C lobby entry plan consisting of five bays, with the left bay being narrower. There is a one-bay timber-framed rear wing attached to the central bay and an outshut on the north side of the east bay. The framing consists of three panels high.
The entrance is located in the second bay from the east, leading into a lobby through a shaped lintel that opens into a framed and gabled porch. The entrance features a six-panelled door. The building has timber windows set in frames and includes two 2-light gabled dormers. The rear wing is three panels high and has corner braces, while the gable truss features queen struts to the collar and raking upper struts, with a single tier of purlins.
Inside, the lobby contains a post and panel partition opposite the entrance, adjacent to the stack. The main living room has a timber-framed partition leading to the inner room, along with a chamfered spine beam that has swept out stops. The stack includes a timber cupboard opening at the side of the fireplace. There is a 20th-century stair located in the narrow bay behind the stack. Other parts of the house were not accessible at the time of inspection.
