Description
The Porches is a two-storey building dating from the 18th century, constructed from coursed stone rubble with a slate roof. It comprises five bays and features two steeply gabled front porches. The northern porch provides access to the entrance doors of numbers 7 and 8, being set on a cant and incorporating doors framed with cover beads. The interior of this porch has a plastered vault. Number 6, located at the southern end, has a 20th-century external door, with the porch extending beyond the end of the building, indicating a possible intention for a further cottage, sharing an external stack – now occupied by a single-storey extension. The building features two-light timber Gothic windows, each with a single horizontally barred metal casement. A 20th-century extension has been added to the rear of number 8, known as Porch House.
