Description
The Granary is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and has a slate roof. The building has a four-unit plan and is two stories high, featuring a five-window range. A projecting porch with a side entrance is located between the first and second bays from the left, and it has a 19th-century door with six panels, framed by a simple moulded surround and topped with a flat hood. The ground floor of the porch includes sash windows with original thick glazing bars. To the right of the porch are two three-light stone mullion windows and one additional three-light stone mullion window within the porch. The remaining windows are three-light casements with leaded lights set under wooden lintels. There is a small fire window at the far left. The roof is shallow pitched, featuring brick ridges and end stacks. The stonework shows evidence of an arched entrance at the front of the porch. Inside, the ground floor rooms have fielded panelled shutters and stone mullions, suggesting that the building may have originally been more than one house.
