Tyn-y-gerddi

Tyn-y-gerddi is a late 16th century farmhouse, with a south bay that possibly dates from the mid 17th century. The building features a timber frame with plaster panel infill and a thatched roof, which has a rebuilt brick axial stack. It is two storeys tall and has a three-unit lobby entry plan. The two northern bays, including the entrance bay, are close-studded with a mid-rail and sit on a stone plinth. The lower storey timbers in the entrance bay have been replaced with brick. The southern bays have square panelled framing, which may have been added later, and some of the timbers have been replaced. There is partial survival of close-studded framing on the rear elevation, with the rest rebuilt in brick. The windows are modern casements, mostly set in earlier openings. The interior was not accessible during the inspection in October 1995. Tyn-y-gerddi is listed as a well-preserved and little altered example of a late 16th century farmhouse.
