Description
The Cowhouse and Stable at Maes-gwyn is a Grade II listed building located on the north side of Maes-gwyn, now part of a narrow farmyard off the approaching track. This structure features an early 18th-century timber-framed lower section with a slated roof that houses the cowhouse. Attached to the stone southern gable wall are two bays constructed of brick and corrugated iron, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The original timber-framed section consists of two square panels high and twelve long, raised on stone sill walls that follow the slope of the ground. It is likely that the walls were raised by an additional panel at a slightly later date. The exterior includes three doors: one stable door at the upper end and a pitching door above the central door. At the northern gable end, there is a triangular timber dovecote set beneath the wide projecting verges. Inside, the building features a cobbled floor with brick channels. It is listed as a virtually unaltered example of a late timber-framed farm building and forms a group with Maes-gwyn.
