Description
Middle Llegodig is a two-storey, three-bay house built with a timber frame. It features regular box framing set on a masonry and brick plinth, with rendered brick nogging. The roof is covered with slate, and there are red brick stacks at the northeast end and to the left of the entrance, which is located near the center. The timber framing consists of four panels high, with the top tier being a later addition that created a second storey. The northeast bay, which is the inner room to the right, appears to have been added when the roof was raised and has narrower panels than the rest of the house. Arched braces are present at the southwest end and towards the center, with passing braces at either end.
The front elevation has three windows. The upper storey features 12-pane cast iron casements, while the kitchen at the southwest end has a similar 16-pane casement. The other ground floor windows are 20th-century three-light casements with small panes. There is a 20th-century timber-framed porch with half-lit doors and a pitched extension made of brickwork and timber cladding on the northeast side. The timber framing on the southwest gable end has been rendered over, but timber planks have been added to match the render. This gable end also has arched and passing braces at the corners and diagonal struts in the gable apex. A small cast iron-framed window is located in the upper storey, with a 20th-century casement below. At the rear, there is a large brick extension with a catslide roof, featuring timber framing painted in black and white, and the rear elevation contains 20th-century windows. A doorway leads into the southwest end of the catslide extension, accessed through a large 20th-century pitched porch.
Inside, the box framing is exposed in the hall, and a close-studded partition at the northeast end may have formed the original end of the building. There are two chamfered spine beams. The fireplace has been restored but may contain original lintels, with an arched lintel in the hall and flat, chamfered lintels in the kitchen. The kitchen also has two spine beams without chamfers. Originally, there were front doors into the hall and kitchen, but these were removed in the 1960s; the door has since been restored to its historic position.
