Description
This is a large cowhouse with a hay loft above, built using timber framing that is clad in timber and topped with a corrugated iron roof, sitting on a brick plinth. There is a similar lower range to the northeast. The front of the building features five doors, including three stable-type doors that alternate with plain plank doorways, which may lead to feeding passages. There are also two hatches for accessing the loft. A planked door on the northeast side is reached by stone steps. The southwest gable end is covered in corrugated iron and includes a loft hatch and an opening below. At the rear, there is a catslide extension with openings at the southwest end. The northeast range has a hay loft hatch and two ground-level openings.
Access to the building is through the stone steps and a planked door, which leads into a raised passage that provides access to the loft. The animals are housed on either side at a lower level. The interior features simple trusses with flat tie beams, diagonal struts, and tension braces. The lower parts of the trusses are timber clad and serve as partitions.
