Description

Bridge 140 over The Canal is a Grade II listed single span brick arched bridge featuring some stone dressings. The outer piers and parapet are topped with pyramidal stone copings, and a stone string course indicates the position of the road bed. The bridge is splayed in plan and rises in a shallow curve in section. Adjacent to the bridge on the west side of the canal is a small brick building that may have served as a workshop. This building has a slate-hung gable wall and a slate roof with a gable end stack. It is two storeys tall, built into the bank, with a doorway accessed by steps at the upper level and a single window alongside.
