Description

Bridge No 40 is a Grade II listed structure made of rubble with voussoirs forming a semicircular arch over a canal. It features a string-course above and pitched coping on the parapet. To the north, the bridge ends with an advanced pier capped with a pyramidical top, and the wall curves around beyond this point. On the south side, which faces the towpath, the walls gracefully sweep down in wide curves to the west and east, concluding with similar terminating piers.
