Description
Bridge No 41 is a Grade II listed structure made of rubble, featuring a semicircular arch over the canal and a smaller segmental arch on the northern bank. The bridge has a droved string-course above and pitched coping on the parapet. The smaller arch, which is now blocked, originally allowed goods transported by tramway to pass through to the wharf located to the west, directly opposite the towpath, where boats were loaded from the trams. The wharf is bordered by a high rubble wall. To the north, the bridge ends with an advanced pier that has a cap, and the wall curves around beyond this point. On the southern side, which faces the towpath, the wall ramps down at right angles to both the west and east, each with similar terminating piers.
