Description
The barn at Bryn-dethol Farm is a Grade II listed structure built against a slope, featuring an L-plan layout with cowhouses located underneath the downhill end of the main block. The walls are primarily constructed of rubble stone, while the upper part of the eastern elevation has a timber box-frame with uprights that are grooved for horizontal planking. The barn includes full-height threshing doorways on both sides. Although it retained slate roofing in 1985, this is no longer present. Later additions include parallel single-storey wings on the eastern side; the roof of the southeast wing is missing, and the northeast wing has had its original ridge roof altered to a monopitch design. At the time of inspection, the barn was in very poor condition. Inside, there are simple roof trusses with curved raking struts that are supported independently of the walls by end and centre posts, along with timber beams over the cowhouse basement.
