Description

Downholme Bridge is a Grade II* listed structure dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and features a single-lane design with three arches and triangular cutwaters. The bridge has ashlar foundations, quoins, and soffits to the arches. The arch over the main stream of the river is slightly pointed, while the two northern arches, spanning the river bed and land, are segmental in shape. The parapet is topped with ashlar saddleback coping, and the parapet terminals are square with rounded pyramidal caps. Masons' marks can be found on the soffits of the arches.
