Description
The Cow House at Glan Ithon is a lofted structure built from rubble stone, featuring a weather-boarded front supported by timber framing, and topped with a corrugated asbestos-cement roof that has deeply overhanging eaves at the gables. The front of the building includes five boarded doors and a loft door, while the north gable end has a loading door at loft level and a doorway leading to a rear outshut that contains a calf shed.
Inside, the cow house primarily showcases 19th-century timberwork, although some of the timber has been reused from earlier periods, particularly in the rear calf shed. The facility is designed to accommodate 24 cows and includes two calf sheds. It retains wooden stalls, partitions, tethering poles, and chains. The floor is a combination of flagged and cobbled surfaces.
