Description
The Hendre is a building featuring a modern tiled roof with recently raised eaves, complemented by two brick stacks, one located at the mid-roof rear. It has three pitched roof dormers that contain casement windows. On the ground floor, there are two Gothic casement windows on the left side, and to the right, a Tudor style timber door is set beneath a cambered head.
The gable ends and rear openings have modern brick dressings, and a line marking the previous roof level is visible on the left side elevation. The lower parts of the cruck blades, along with the wall plate, can be seen through the rear wall. Additionally, there is a hipped pyramidal roof bothy on the right side.
Inside, the building retains one definite cruck truss and one likely cruck truss, both featuring cavetto chamfers on the main blades. The tie-beams are dowelled and supported by arched braces, with cusped braces above and curved windbraces in the roof structure. Evidence suggests that the building originally had a 2-bay open hall, with a possible post and panel screen indicated by a reused cill beam, and a chimney breast located under a timber lintel in the cross wall.
