Lodge to Stanage Park (formerly a School)

The Lodge to Stanage Park, which was formerly a school, is a single-storey building constructed from rubble. It features an open arcade and a two-storey gabled cross range to the right. The cross range has been rebuilt, as indicated by the uneven masonry at the south-east corner and the presence of modern lintels. The roof is tiled, with plain bargeboards that include a pendant and finial, and it has projecting boxed eaves. There is a modern chimney stack set diagonally in brick and two cylindrical ventilators.

The arcade consists of four bays with deep chamfers and has a lean-to tiled roof, which was originally larger and possibly extended around three sides of the building. The right-hand arch of the arcade is blocked and partially glazed. There are casement windows on the back wall of the arcade, along with two timber and glazed doors on the right and a third boarded door leading to a former cloakroom on the left. The cross range has assorted timber windows with two and three lights. On the north elevation, there are two blocked pointed openings, while the south elevation features a large Gothic glazed window with a Tudor hood mould. An extension to the west has a later pitched roof.

The building is set back from the road, with a sunken driveway on each side flanked by coursed rubble revetment walls. There are three pairs of rubble gate piers topped with freestone copings.
