Description

Cwm y Dwrgi is a single-storey, four-unit house with a cross-wing, built from lime-washed rubble stone and topped with old slate roofs. There is a square stone chimney at the junction of the main range and the cross-wing, although the second chimney has fallen.

In the main block, starting from the left, there is an entrance to a store room featuring a boarded door and a 3-over-6-pane hornless sash window nearby. To the left of the center, there is a narrow 6-pane window set in a blocked doorway that originally led to a cross-passage. On the far right, beyond the cross-wing, there is a 20th-century part-lit wooden door. The cross-wing, which was built against the hall, is the third unit from the left. It has an entrance on the east side with a boarded door to the left and a casement window immediately under the eaves to the right, along with a small window at the rear of the wing. The rear of the main block features two sash windows and a small window that lights the dairy.

The main block comprises a single-bay hall with two service rooms (the dairy and 'gegin fach') at the upper end, a parlour on the downhill side of the hall, and a store at the lower end beyond a later stone wall. The roof structure consists of a series of tie-beam trusses with raking struts. There is a large lateral fireplace on the cross-wing side of the hall, which likely had a post-and-panel partition at the upper, dais end. The cross-wing contains a large fireplace that backs onto the hall fireplace.
