Description

Pentref is a two-storey building with an attic and cellar, featuring a single pile and two adjoining parallel rear wings. It is constructed from rubble stone with roughly square quoins and has clay tiled roofs. There are brick end stacks on the left gable and at the gable and ridge of the left-hand wing where it connects to the main front.

The front facade has three windows: on the ground floor, there are large-paned sash windows from the 19th century with sidelights, all under dressed stone lintels and cills. The first floor features a three-light window with a central casement beneath stone cambered heads, while the attic has two-light casements. The central door is recessed, consisting of two panels with a glazed upper section, and is framed by a door case with fluted strips and a plain pitch-roofed canopy supported by curved brackets. A single two-light casement is located in the attic storey of the right gable.

The right-hand rear wing, used as a dairy, has symmetrical fenestration on both the ground and first floors, with all windows being two-light casements under cambered stone heads, except for the lower right window which retains a cruciform design with metal bars, gauze infill, and internal shutters.

Inside, the front left room features a large open fireplace with an arched stone surround and a projecting keystone, while the front right room has a plain marble fire surround. The building has six-panel doors, and the stairs, which were originally a dogleg rising from the front hall, have been converted to a straight run with template brackets on the open string. There are also two single-storey lean-tos attached to the left gable, made of rubble stone with a tiled roof and brick with a glazed roof, featuring modern openings.
