Description
The Lower Lock Chamber features masonry quaysides that connect to the towpath beneath bridge 95. It has a single lock gate on the east side and double gates on the west side, equipped with vertical ironwork sluice gear. On the north side, near the overbridge, there is a set of Buck's patented paddle gear integrated into a stonework surround. This includes a pyramidal flanged ironwork frame with arched braces and rear brackets for the winding handle. Additionally, it has a toothed drive-wheel with a V-shaped pivoting arm that connects to the sluices in the lock floor. To the west of the lock gates, the masonry quaysides conclude with vertical brick-faced revetments.
