Description

Middle Esgair Cottage is a small traditional unimproved cottage built in the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features timber framing that is two panels high, with limewashed brick infill and a brick gable at the upper end, while the lower end has wattle and daub infilling. The walls were later raised by one panel, and the original thatched roof was replaced with slate. The cottage has a three-unit plan, with a boarded door located opposite a central stack that is now made of brick but was likely originally timber. There is a small timber porch with a settle and paned timber windows. The cottage was not accessible during the inspection in April 1996.
