Description
Gilfach Cottages is a pair of early 18th century cottages that are timber framed with whitened infill panels and a slate roof. An additional bay at the north end is covered with corrugated iron. Each cottage has two narrow bays and shares a stack on the party wall. The framing consists of three panels high, raised by an additional panel, with angle braces at the southwest end. The lower panel is weatherboarded throughout, and the south gable is also covered with corrugated iron.
The south cottage retains its original boarded door, while both cottages feature small timber porches; however, the door of the north cottage has been replaced. They have 19th century paned timber windows. At the rear, there is a lean-to service extension that runs the full length of the cottages.
The cottages were not accessible at the time of inspection in April 1996.
