Description
Arwelfa is a symmetrical pair of houses built in local brown shaley stone, dating from the 19th century. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a four-window range. They have roofs covered with small slates, which match the roof of Lloran House, and a tile ridge. A shared central stone chimney is present. The houses have 16-pane hornless-sash type windows set in exposed frames, with openings that have segmental stone arches and concrete sills. The ground and upper windows are of the same proportions, although the rhythm of the facade is interrupted by a large gap for the fireplace positions. There are modern semi-glazed doors located within lightly constructed open-fronted timber porches.
At the rear, both cottages rise to three storeys, each featuring a brick-fronted full-width rear gable. There is an additional shared rear chimney situated in the valley between the rear extensions. The rear also has 16-pane sash windows similar to those at the front, but they are taller in proportion. Flanking staircase windows, along with a basement door and window, complete the rear elevation.
