Description
Stingwern Cottage is a two-storey, two-unit cottage dating from the 18th century. The front is made of brick, while the right gable is brick and the rear wall is timber framed, now covered in roughcast. The cottage has a slate roof with a right-hand end brick stack that features a corbelled cap and has been raised in height.
The front of the cottage has two windows; on the lower storey, there are segmental-headed, three-light mullioned and transomed windows with casements, and a centrally placed 20th-century porch. The upper storey features two-light casements located below the wall plate.
At the rear, the upper storey juts out, supported by an exposed bressumer on moulded brackets. The upper storey windows at the back are similar to those at the front, while the lower storey has renewed casements. The right gable has cement render, likely infilling an early external chimney.
The cottage was not accessible at the time of inspection in December 1996.
