The Lion Hotel

The Lion Hotel is a 19th-century building constructed with painted Flemish bond brick on a plinth. It features a moderately pitched slate roof and a dentil eaves cornice. There is a later brick stack positioned forward of the ridge on the right side, with a modern stack on the left. The building has early 12-pane flush framed sash windows located under the eaves, with timber sills. The ground floor windows are similar but horned, with gauged brick flat heads, consisting of one window to the right of the door and two to the left, all with stone sills.

The doorcase is plain and dates from the 19th century, featuring a dripboard and a large rectangular fanlight above a modern door. The right side of the building has a later chamfered corner. To the extreme left, there is a carriageway with a heavy frame and a soldier arch, topped by a 19th-century plaster lion on brackets.

At the rear, there is a cobbled former stableyard that includes weatherboarded outbuildings. A plaque from the 1930s, featuring a "winged wheel," is affixed to the front elevation, indicating its connection to a touring club.
