Description
This building at 46 High Street consists of a pair of shops. Number 45 was largely refronted around 1870, while number 46 likely features an early 19th-century frontage, although the property itself has older origins. The structure is made of brick and has a slate roof, standing three storeys tall. Number 45 has a three-window range, while number 46 has a two-window range. Both shops have inserted fronts that date from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, featuring moulded brackets with cable moulding and foliate swags on either side of the fascias. The windows of number 46 are divided by a mid-rail, and the upper windows are four-pane sashes with flat arched heads. There is a continuous sill band at the upper storey of number 46. These buildings are included for their group value and retain much of their late 19th-century character, including a shop front of notable quality.
