Description
These are two houses with shops, likely originally part of a single dwelling, dating from the early to mid-18th century. The front is solidly rendered, with a slate roof and chimney pots visible just behind the ridge. The buildings are two storeys high with a four-window front. Number 49 has a shop front dating from the mid-19th century, featuring pilasters and an entablature. Number 50 retains the left-hand side of a late-19th century shop front, characterised by a large console and entablature, while the right-hand side has been incorporated into a later shop extension. The upper-storey windows are sash windows within box frames; Number 49 has a two-light window with six panes to the left and a single-light window with eight panes to the right. The windows at Number 50 have been lengthened and both feature sashes with margin panes. A continuous 18th-century bracketed eaves cornice runs along the front. The interior has not been inspected.
