22 And 23, Mill Street

22 and 23 Mill Street are houses with shops, dating from the early to mid 19th century, although their basic structure may be older. They have solid rendered fronts and slate roofs. There are two late 19th century or early 20th century chimneys on the ridge; one is at the left-hand end and the other is located between Nos 22 and 23. The latter chimney is rendered, while the former is partly rendered and partly made of exposed red brick. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a three-window range.

Both properties have matching late 19th century or early 20th century shop fronts, each adorned with fluted flanking pilasters and entablatures. No 22 has one display window that is canted to the right, leading to a recessed glazed shop door with two solid moulded panels at the bottom. No 23 features two similar windows with central double doors. The upper storey of No 22 has one window with two-paned sashes, while No 23 has two windows with eight-paned sashes. There is a moulded wooden board below the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
