Description
2 High Street is an early 19th century building that replaced an earlier structure on the site. The exterior features painted brick and a slate roof with end wall stacks. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range, with a late 19th to early 20th century shop front on the ground floor. This shop front includes a central recessed entrance flanked by windows divided by a slim central mullion, topped with a moulded fascia. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes, with steep cambered arched heads on the first floor and flat arched heads on the second storey beneath the eaves. To the left of the shop front, there is a passage entry with a plank doorway. This building is noted for being a well-preserved early 19th century town building that retains some original details and features a typical late 19th century shop front. It is part of an important group of buildings on the High Street.
