Description
The Toll Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage that features a timber-framed structure with a slate roof and a small brick stack at the south end. It has one storey and an attic. The east side wall facing the road has been renewed with timbers and includes three by four rendered panels with diagonal lower braces, along with two pairs of casement windows. The south end wall is made of whitewashed rubble stone and has a single loft window. The north end is square-framed with three by four panels, filled with whitewashed brick and diagonal lower braces. There is a ledged door in the second panel, a single casement in the fourth panel, and a pair of casement windows in the gable, which features a collar truss.
At the rear, there is a large modern addition attached at right angles to the west side. Additionally, there is a single-storey addition at the south end made of painted brick with a slate roof. The east side of this addition has a ledged door in an old frame positioned to the extreme right, while the south end features a cambered-headed pair of casement windows. The rear wall is windowless and sits on a high rubble plinth due to the sloping ground. The interior has not been inspected.
