Description

Howard's End is a house that features a combination of red brick and greenish stone, constructed with large squared blocks. It has a slate hipped roof and a sandstone chimney stack with a cornice at the southwest end. The house has two storeys.

The northwest elevation is primarily brick, showcasing a raised eaves course and evidence of alterations at both ends. The left pier has modern plaster that mimics brick, while the wall slightly turns out to meet the original brick right pier, which is bonded into the southwest end elevation. This elevation is made of stone for two-thirds of its height, transitioning to red brick on the right side, which includes a small modern upper window.

On the northwest elevation, there are stone-framed openings: a small single light window on the first floor to the left, a modern small window below it, and a tall narrow doorway left of centre that features a boarded door and a barred overlight. To the right of the doorway, there is a 30-pane sash window with very small panes on both floors. The northeast end wall is made of brick and includes a small stone-framed window on the first floor to the left, along with a hipped two-storey brick addition from the 20th century to the right. The rear southeast wall is windowless and constructed of stone, with a modern hipped single-storey addition.

The interior of the house has not been inspected.
