Description
Woodmanton Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage, likely dating from the 17th century, with later extensions. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with painted brick infill. The roof is made of sandstone slate and has an external end stack made of sandstone rubble and brick. The building has a rectangular two-bay plan that runs roughly east to west, with a central arm attached to the south. It is one storey with an attic.
On the north elevation, there are two mid-20th century glazing bar 2-light casement windows located in two framed gabled dormers. The ground floor has similar windows and a central late 20th century timber-framed porch with an entry on the left-hand side. There is a brick lean-to on the left and a sandstone lean-to on the right. Both gables feature scissor struts that form lozenges. The frame consists of three square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. One of the gabled dormers has curved braces with spurs, which may date back to the early 17th century. A late 20th century addition at the rear is designed to resemble traditional timber framing. The interior has not been inspected.
