Description
The former Baptist Chapel is a simple classical building dating from 1827. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof. The centrally placed doorway is topped with an open pedimented hood and is surrounded by a moulded wooden architrave with console details. There are two symmetrically placed windows on the ground floor, each with stone lintels, and a stone string course runs along the building. The first floor has three windows, all also with stone lintels. Under the apex of the gable, there is a stone plaque with a heavily eroded inscription and the date 1827. The chapel is enclosed by later brick walls with sandstone coping blocks, which are topped with decorative railings. The interior was not accessible during the re-survey in March 1996.
