Description

Pont-faen is a bridge built of sandstone ashlar between rubble embankments. The ashlar courses dip slightly towards the arch, which is a single span segmental arch measuring approximately 12.5 meters (41 feet) in length, with the apex rising about 4.33 meters above flood water level. The arch features two rings, with the inner ring made of voussoirs that are set back from the upper regulating course, which is flush with the spandrels. The soffit width of the arch is 3.25 meters. Above a flat string course, there are orthostatic parapets that were originally cramped together, narrowing the slightly sloping carriageway to 2.7 meters.
