Description
Chirk Aqueduct is a significant structure that extends into England. It features brick piers that are faced with stone ashlar and support ten arches, each spanning 12.2 meters (40 feet). The aqueduct's tank is positioned 20 meters (68 feet) above the valley and stretches for a length of 216.5 meters (710 feet). The water tank, approximately 3 meters wide, is supported by flanged and bolted cast iron plates at the bottom, with the sides constructed of ashlar stonework and brick laid in Parker's Cement. Around 1870, additional cast iron side plates measuring 1.25 meters long and 23 millimeters thick were added. The tow path runs along the eastern side and is bordered by cast iron railings set on wide coping.
