Description
Llwyn-y-cil Lodge is a Grade II listed building constructed in a picturesque Tudor Domestic style. It features decorative timber square-panel framing with diagonal braces that create lozenge shapes, all set on a sandstone plinth. The roof is covered with red tiles. This single-storey structure has a balanced asymmetrical design with three bays. The central bay includes a recessed entrance porch with a three-bay timber arcade, where the arches and posts are intricately carved in a Jacobean style, complemented by low balustrades. Above this is a shaped gable that displays a central oak cartouche. The entrance consists of a central studded oak door, flanked by black stained oak dado panelling.
On the left bay, there is a small gable that jetties over a rose-carved jetty beam. The right bay is slightly set forward and features a full gable above an oak-leaf carved jetty beam, beneath which is a canted oriel window with moulded mullions and transoms. All the glazing is leaded. The eastern end gable mirrors this gabled style, with a jetty bressumer carved with vines and a timber window that has a cornice below. A central ribbed brick stack is present.
Inside, the lodge contains some 17th-century panelling salvaged from the demolished house at Cefn-y-wern.
