Description
Pont y Bettws is a bridge built of local ashlar stone, featuring a rubble stone parapet and a datestone located below the coping on the road-facing side of the main span. The bridge has three semicircular arches: the central arch spans 13.1 meters and rises 5.7 meters above the river, while each flood arch spans 10.4 meters and rises approximately 5 meters above the water. Each arch is made with 0.6 meter voussoirs and includes a regulating course, resting on water piers. The flush parallel spandrels extend to flush shale-coped and iron cramped parapets, allowing for a carriageway width of 5.5 meters, with the total width of the bridge measuring 6.3 meters. The abutments are slightly outset and flare outward, ending in square stone piers. Pilasters rise from each water pier between the spans.
