Description
Althrey Woodhouse Barn is a Grade II listed building featuring timber framing with brick nogging and a sheeted metal roof, along with a brick plinth on the west side. This large barn is constructed in rectangular panels, many of which include slender secondary rails. It has an off-centre opposed opening, and at the south end, there is a secondary set of opposed openings, with the one on the west side blocked. The north gable end elevation displays a truss with diagonal struts and diagonal braces at the eaves level.
Inside, some tie-beam trusses with diagonal struts are visible above the false ceiling. A full inspection of the roof structure was not possible during the 1996 survey, but it appears that most, if not all, of the original trusses and some purlins are still intact, although the original ridge is missing.
