Description
The War Memorial is a red sandstone column topped with a draped female figure in an Art Nouveau style, holding two wreaths. Near the base of the column, there are three small brackets. The back of the column features the words "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam," while the front displays the names of the deceased. This memorial is positioned in front of a curved seating area created by a red sandstone wall, which includes a stone seat supported by brackets. The wall ends on each side with piers topped with ball finials, which are carved with the dates 1914 and 1918, and the additional dates 1939 and 1945 below them. Above the seat, there are inscriptions that read: "In Grateful remembrance of the Men of this parish Who Gave Their Lives in the Great War" and "All these were honoured in their generations and were the glory of their times. Ecclesiasticus XLIV-VII." The lettering throughout the memorial is of particularly fine quality.
