Description
Old Bridge House is a three-storey building constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a hipped slate roof, brick chimneys, a brick plinth, and stone string courses. The front elevation is nearly symmetrical with five windows and a dentil eaves course. The ground floor includes a central shop front with a recessed door flanked by six-pane windows that curve outward and still have some pre-20th century glass. On either side of the shop front, there are door cases with foliated brackets, topped by a cornice that projects above the doors. To the left, there is a tripartite window, and to the right, a sash-type window with a stone sill and storey bands. The upper floors feature sets of windows separated by storey and sill bands, consisting of alternating flat and round-headed openings with multipaned sashes, although some have been replaced on the right side.
Inside, there is a staircase that dates from the mid-19th century and simple fireplaces of a similar period in some rooms. The ground floor and shop have been altered, as noted during a partial inspection in the 1996 survey.
