Description
Brynhovah Cottage is a house and byre that share a single continuous roofline. The building is constructed of red brick in an irregular bond, featuring a dentile cornice and a slate roof, with brick chimneys, and it stands two stories tall. The house section has two simple casement windows on each floor; the ground floor windows have cambered heads, while the upper floor windows have flat heads. An entrance with a trellised porch is located to the left, positioned between the windows. The byre is situated to the right and includes a simple boarded door. The right-hand return elevation features a circular pitching eye in the gable end. The rear elevation has an entrance to the byre with a boarded door on the left and a small extension on the right. Generally, the windows throughout the building are casements.
The house part has a traditional layout with a notional cross passage that separates the main room from two service rooms, one of which serves as a pantry and contains heavy slate shelves. The ceiling displays beams characteristic of the 18th century, and there are some boarded doors with strap hinges. The building was only partially inspected during the 1996 survey.
