Description
The Boat Inn Public House is a building constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof and brick chimneys, featuring extensions and repairs. Originally, it was two houses. The left side is two stories tall with two windows, showing evidence of brick rebuilding at the eaves. The entrance is on the right, which has a later door and a bay window. The upper floor windows are cast-iron multipaned casements. The right side of the building is a single story over a basement, with 19th-century dormers that have hipped roofs in the attic and dressed stone quoins. There are steps leading up to a central entrance, with casement windows that have cast-iron transoms, and to the left, there is a low entrance to the basement. The rear of the building features 19th-century and later 20th-century extensions.
The structure has been remodeled, converting the two houses into one. The ground floor rooms have heavy chamfered and stopped beams. There is a fireplace with a bressumer in the right section and a 19th-century winding stair. The upper floor has a partially exposed and altered roof truss.
