Description

The War Memorial, also known as the Cenotaph, was built in the early 1920s and is made of Portland stone. It follows the style of Lutyens' Cenotaph and was designed by architect W B Edwards. The memorial features a tomb chest set on a tall pylon that is based on a plinth. Slate panels on the ends are inscribed with the names of those who fell in the conflicts of 1914-18, 1939-45, and the Gulf War in 1991. The sides of the memorial display roundels featuring the Flint arms, the Welsh dragon, and various inscriptions.
