Description

This is a two-storey building, likely dating from the 18th century, with a scribed stucco exterior, quoins, and a slate roof. A gable end faces Church Street, featuring a tall central arch with a first-floor window above, and an entrance doorway below. The left side of the building has five first-floor windows set at eaves level, with the left window being a gabled loading bay. A raised inscription reading "Public Supply Stores" is positioned between the first and ground floors. The ground floor has two doors and three windows.

The building is said to incorporate a section of an earlier wall dating from the 17th century, and it originally featured two three-light mullioned windows. The ground floor retains high shop fittings relating to its commercial use. A wooden staircase, reportedly salvaged from a bridge used in the construction of Brunel's "Great Eastern" and broken up nearby on the Mersey, is also a distinctive feature.
