Description
Garden Cottage is a domestic Gothic cottage built in the 19th century, featuring one-and-a-half storeys and four windows. It is constructed from snecked rubble with a slate roof, and has an external stone gable stack on the right side that has been heightened in yellow brick, along with a yellow-brick ridge stack on the left side of the center. The stacks are adorned with corbelled caps and vertical ribs, which are characteristic of the Gwysaney Estate.
The front of the cottage is symmetrical, with a one-and-a-half-storey centerpiece that includes a doorway flanked by windows on both storeys. The wider outer bays contain single lower-storey windows. The central doorway features a boarded door with ornate strap hinges, and is framed by an ashlar surround with a hood mould that extends over the adjacent windows. The three-light mullioned windows also have hood moulds, including two half dormers that are topped with crow-stepped gables. The left gable end includes a three-light attic window.
There is a lower added parallel wing made of snecked dressed stone with a slate roof, which is set back against the left gable end. This wing has a door and window facing the front, as well as a window in the gable end, all of which have been replaced. At the rear of the cottage, there is a catslide roofed outshut on the right side. The building has not been inspected.
