Description
The Cart House, Granary, and Pigeon Loft at Shifna-hyr Farm is a 19th-century structure built from rubble stone, featuring rock-faced dressings and quoins, topped with a slate roof. The front of the building has two wide basket arches; the left-hand arch still has one of its original double boarded doors. There are two boarded loft openings above. The right gable end includes two similar loft openings, with the left one originally serving as a doorway, above a brick lean-to that is built over a stone wall connected to the cart shed.
On the left gable end, where the ground level is higher, there is a boarded loft granary door accessed by stone steps. A continuous rear outshut, which houses a pigeon loft, has a boarded door reached by stone steps to the left of the granary doorway, while further left is a small opening with a ledge. The rear roof slope retains two small raked openings for pigeons. The rear wall of the outshut features a blocked door on the right and doorways in the center and to the left.
The building has not been inspected.
