Description
Mountain Ash is a three-unit cottage built to face north-west, with an additional section at its south-west end. The building features a mix of stonework and brickwork due to extensive earlier alterations, and it is rendered and painted white. It has a slate roof with a tile ridge. The front slope of the original cottage is covered in small slate courses, while the rear slope and the entire later extension to the right are covered in larger slates. A band of render marks the line on the front slope where the two sizes of slates meet. There is a stone chimney, rendered and whitened, located to the left of the centre of the original cottage, and a lower similar chimney at the centre of the extension. The door is positioned to the right of centre on the original cottage and features a small modern porch. There are three notably small timber windows: the two on the left are four-pane casements, while the window to the right of the door is original and has six panes of hand-made glass. The extension on the right and the rear elevation have modern windows.
At the time of the survey, the interior was undergoing modernisation. The original part of the cottage has a three-unit plan with a chimney serving the centre unit, and the unit to the right is of small size.
