Description

Galnrafon Evangelical Church is a 2-storey building featuring a scribed render front with a pediment treatment. The facade includes acroteria bases and a central round arch that rises through the pediment. It has a slate roof with ventilators and a tiled ridge. The upper part of the church showcases composite capitals and fluted pilasters, with the left pilaster being partly unfluted. Above a date plaque, there is a bulls eye window at the center. The gallery level has 2 and 3-light windows that are deeply recessed round arched sash windows, complete with marginal glazing bars, keystones, and bracket cills. Below, there are 2-light windows with triangular heads that rise up to the entablature, flanked by plain pilasters. The central entrance features paired round arched headed panelled doors. Foundation stones commemorate the original congregational church established by William Williams around 1800.

To the right, there is a 4-bay pebbledashed section with a cill band and sash windows that have marginal glazing bars and cement architraves; the gallery windows are round arched headed, while those below are square headed. An outbuilding is attached to this side. The left side is similar, and the rear is plain with band courses. The front has a railed forecourt that includes a barley twist lamp standard and railings made by John Davies of Ty Coch, Llangollen.

Inside, there is a raked gallery supported by fluted cast iron piers, with pitch pine panelled woodwork throughout. A tall semicircular arch is located behind the 'set fawr', adorned with fluted pilasters and foliage decoration in the tympanum. The boarded ceiling features a cornice, roses, and arabesque ornament surrounding a central ventilator panel.
