Description

This is a small Tudorbethan railway station building located on the 'up' platform, dating from the early 20th century. The building features two storeys on the left side and a single storey on the right, with a cross range in the middle that connects to a footbridge. It is constructed from coursed freestone, complete with a plinth and cornice, and has a steep slate roof that includes some fishscale tiling. The station has tall octagonal stone chimney stacks, particularly prominent on the single storey section.

On the left end, there is one window on the first floor. The central area has two double-doored entrances flanked by cross frame windows. To the far left, there is a four-panel door with a cambered voussoir head. Immediately to the right of the main entrance are two additional panelled doors and windows with transoms. An overall pitched canopy with valencing is supported by panelled steel piers. The footbridge, which projects over this canopy, has a similar roof and valencing and is constructed of plate steel (by the Earl of Dudley) and wood.

A cantilevered staircase leads to the 'down' platform, extending over the river. The station can also be accessed from the rear gable end of the cross range, which overlooks Abbey Road. This entrance features a crenellated stack and a boarded and gated entrance with half-glazed doors. Facing the ramped drive is the steep gabled end of the main range, which has two doorways below.

The 'up' platform is equipped with a Great Western Railway (GWR) iron bench, while the 'down' platform has railings along the embankment wall and some cast iron fluted lamp standards topped with foliage capitals.
