Description
The Old Station is a former Great Western Railway station built in 1864, designed in the Tudor Gothic style. The building is constructed from coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and is a single storey with platforms on each side. It features a large hipped slate valley roof supported by six curved wooden brackets on each side. A brick stack is located in the central valley and is pierced by a Tudor arch.
On the west side, the platform is now enclosed, while the east side has five openings. The central opening contains a Tudor arched door with a hoodmould, flanked by two-light mullioned windows and outer single lights, all in plain chamfered surrounds. The platform braces are supported by stone corbels. At the north end, there are diagonal angle buttresses and a Tudor arched window with a hoodmould. The south end features two Tudor arched doors and a small central window.
