Description
E Jones and Sons Electrical Appliances is a three-storey building that was originally three separate commercial premises but has now been merged. It features a combination of limestone rubble and brick construction with rendered principal elevations, topped by a slate roof that is continuous over numbers 1 and 3 and hidden behind a raised parapet at number 5. There are plain brick end chimneys on the left side of numbers 1 and 5.
The main section, which includes numbers 1 to 3, has a near-central entrance that is slightly recessed and features a part-glazed 8-panel door. To the left of the entrance is a shop window designed as a shallow canted bay, supported by round-arched bracing and slender colonnettes, with a flat lead roof above. To the right is a plain three-part shop window with similar colonnettes and bracing. The first floor has two plain late 19th-century sash windows, with a hanging sign on a decorative bracket positioned between them. The second floor features two 8-pane sliding sash windows, with projecting stone sills throughout.
The right-hand section, number 5, also has a central entrance that is recessed between two shop windows of a similar design. Above the shop front is a fascia with a dentilated cornice and a modern superimposed sign that extends to the left to include number 3. The upper floors have plain tripartite sash windows, with a larger central window flanked by narrower ones, and a plain parapet above.
The interior of the building was not inspected during the survey.
